Natural Fuels Industries to purchase 20% equity interest in Thailand biofuel plant

Natural Fuels Industries, Inc. (NFI), a manufacturer of energy-efficient pellet fuel from biomass, has entered an agreement to purchase a 20% equity interest in the MAP Ta PHUT, Thailand manufacturing facility currently owned by its affiliate, Natural Fuels Industries Company, Inc. of Thailand.
Currently under construction, the facility boasts of 25 acres of land with various buildings consisting of 200,000 square feet of manufacturing and storage space. Aside from having an annual production capacity of up to 500,000 metric tons of biomass fuel pellets, the facility will also generate up to 20,000 kilovolts of available electrical power via its own electrical power substations. The plant also utilizes existing machinery for packaging, stacking, and printing for labels and other items. The facility is expected to be fully operational by the third quarter of this year.
Bill Jacobson, Chief Executive Officer of Natural Fuels Industries, said “the state-of-the-art facility will serve as a model for other plants the company is planning to construct around the world.” NFI plans to construct manufacturing plants in various locations worldwide to produce biomass products and biodiesel products. The company is currently scouting possible locations in the United States for its first US production facility.
NFI anticipates the biomass industry to become a $20-billion industry in the next five years.
