The Arnprior Solar Project is being developed as two solar energy installations consisting of more than 300,000 solar photovoltaic panels. Under peak operation, the site will generate enough clean electricity to completely power 7,000 homes during peak demand. Electricity generated by the solar installation will be distributed by the province’s Hydro One grid.
The project is being developed under the Government of Ontario’s Standard Offer Program that encourages renewable energy generation to help replace coal-fired power plants.
EFF EN Canada and enXco in the US make up EDF Energies Nouvelles North American companies. EDF Energy Nouvelles is the 50%-owned subsidiary of Électricité de France (EDF), one of the world’s largest energy utility conglomerates and the largest in France. It is still majority-owned by the French government. EDF Energies Nouvelles operates in ten European countries and in North America. The company’s primary focus is wind power, with its second priority being solar photovoltaic power projects. It is also involved in other segments of renewable energy such as small hydro, biomass, biofuel, and biogas, with over 3,000 MW of renewable energy projects in operation or under construction. EDF Energy Nouvelles is listed in Euronext Paris as EEN. The stock was down 1.67% closing at €33.00 at the end of the June 3 trading day.
