Trina Solar gets $100 million dollar loan for plant boosting

Chinese solar company Trina Solar Limited got a $100 million dollar loan from Standard Chartered Bank, to be used for spreading out cell and module production capacity in their Changzhou facility to 500 megawatts. The loan was secured through the company’s subsidiary Trina Solar (Changzhou) Science & Technology Co. Ltd. Trina’s facilities in Changzhou, the Trina Solar PV Park, is where it conducts all research and development into making ingots, wafers, cells and modules.

India’s Suzlon tones down year-long guidance

A strong order book was not enough to keep Suzlon Energy’s consolidated sales from declining in the third quarter, necessitating a change in the wind turbine giant’s guidance for the company’s current fiscal year 2011-2012. Suzlon’s third quarter revenues were at 49.85 billion rupees ($1 billion). Although this represented a 12 percent year-on-year growth, lower third quarter volumes had an effect.

European companies turning back on C.D.M. contracts – firms

A number of European companies which bought carbon credits from Chinese projects under the United Nations Clean Development Mechanism are turning back on previous commitments, according to a report from China Daily. Quoting company sources and project developers, the paper reported that some companies in the European Union, following the plummeting of carbon credit values, are refusing to pay pre-agreed prices, renegotiating agreements, and in some cases terminating contracts for carbon

Insurance Auto to supply salvage vehicles for recycling in China

Illinois-based Insurance Auto Auctions, Inc., a company in the business of auctioning off salvage vehicles, signed a deal with Chen Jia, Inc. in China where it could begin sending over vehicles for recycling following more lenient government rules. Through the deal, Insurance Auto will supply vehicles for to Chen Jia for the latter’s recycling operations.

Ballard to deliver fuel cell stacks for Tata’s low-carbon bus demo

Canada-based Ballard Power Systems will be delivering within this year and the next 12 fuel cell stacks to Tata Motors to power the latter’s zero-emission buses to be demonstrated in various cities in India. Yingli becomes first PV company to measure panels’ carbon footprint

Yingli Green Energy Holding Company Limited is the first solar photovoltaic panel company to have the carbon footprint of its solar panels measured via a lifecycle assessment conducted by TUV Rheinland Group. 25-MW solar project in Gujarat goes online

A 25-megawatt photovoltaic project in Gujarat, India has been completed and successfully connected to the grid. Electricity generated by the project, developed and managed by Visual Percept Solar Projects Private Limited, will be sold to state utility Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited under a 25-year power purchase agreement. The project backed by the State Bank of India is said to be one of the largest multicrystalline solar power plants in South East Asia.

Kia reveals mass-production EV, along with new concept, at CES 2012

Kia Motors will put on show two of its all-electric cars – a concept car and a mass-production one – for the first time in North America at this year’s International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas today. Just launched last month, the Kia Ray EV can run up to 86 miles on a single charge from its 16.4-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion polymer battery pack. Its batteries take six hours to charge using a 220-volt outlet, and 25 minutes through fast-charge mode.

China Energy Recovery borrows $2.2 million loans from Chinese banks

Shanghai-based China Energy Recovery, which designs, fabricates and installs waste heat recovery systems, signed two loan agreements worth around $2.2 million. In a statement, the company said its subsidiary CER Energy Recovery (Shanghai) Company borrowed around $1.1 million from the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China and $789,639 from Shanghai Pudong Zhanjiang Micro-credit Company, the latter coming in two installments.
